Expert Hub

The NeuroSys Expert Hub promotes interdisciplinary exchange between students, scientists interested in founding a company, established companies and other relevant players in the field of neuromorphic computing and AI hardware development.
Our aim is to facilitate the entrepreneurial implementation of promising technologies and to realize business ideas.

During the kick-off we will introduce the NeuroSys Expert Hub with its goals and tasks. The event will feature keynote speeches from investors, scientists and start-ups, followed by a panel discussion. After the panel discussion, participants will have the opportunity to network and gain insights into the regional start-up scene.

Date: 27 Nov 2024, 13:00 CET onwards
Location: Cluster Smart Logistik, Campus Melaten, Campus-Boulevard 55, 52074 Aachen

Seminar

The value chain, in other words the sequence of all manufacturing and marketing stages, of microchips is one of the most complicated in the world. The production of a single computer chip often requires more than 1,000 steps, while more than 70 national borders are often crossed before the product reaches the end customer. These production steps are carried out by various international companies with different business models spread across the globe. Not least because of the chip crisis starting around the year 2020, there is much discussion in Germany about the importance of the independence of the European market. The European Chips Act, which was passed in 2023, addresses this issue and aims to strengthen the European market in terms of security of supply and technological connectivity. But how dependent are Germany and Europe currently on other players in the value chain? In which countries do which parts of the value chain take place and does Europe even have the know-how for its own chip production? Is independence even a realistic goal and what role can neuromorphic computing play? Where might be the strengths of the NeuroSys cluster here, which applications of neuromorphic computing have a high market potential and how is this addressed in the NeuroSys project?

In this talk, Lennart Stoepel and Jasmin Quill talk about the work of the Chair of Controlling in NeuroSys with a focus on the above questions.

The lecture will be held in English.

Date: 22.10.2024, 16:30–18:30
Location: Leonardo Seminar Room, Human Technology Centre (HumTec), Theaterplatz. 14, 52062 Aachen
Speakers: Jasmin Quill and Lennart Stoepel

The seminar is co-organised by: Frieder Bögner, Giacomo Figà Talamanca, Mareike Smolka, Philipp  Neudert(HumTec); Thorsten Wahlbrink, Tobias Abel (AMO GmbH); Lukas Voelkel, Dennis Braun (ELD) . If you have any questions, please contact frieder.boegner@humtec.rwth-aachen.de
